They think this is FUN...

My kids have been begging me to do some chores lately...this was a recent conversation between Sammy and I after she found a penny...

Sammy- Mom can I pay my tithing with this penny?

Me- Well I don't really think you can take 1/10 of a penny so maybe you can save it.

Sammy-but I really want to pay my tithing...

Me (thinking "huh, I guess all of those FHE's really do pay off")- well, you really only need to pay tithing on money you've EARNED so since you just found that penny..go ahead and keep it.

Sammy- Can I please earn some money so I can pay my tithing?

Ben- me too, me too...I want to give my money to Jesus! (side note..the bad news is that Ben is so literal that I am afraid he thinks he is PERSONALLY going to give his money to Jesus)

Me-OK let me think of some chores that you can do and I will give you $1 a week if you do an extra chore every day. ( I refuse to pay them to do their regular chores..ie making their bed and cleaning up their toys..they have to do that because they live here!)

Ben & Sammy- Yea! Awesome!

So, with that being said I couldn't go another day without being asked what chores they could do so I rolled up my sleeves (okay not literally) and taught them how to do the dishes! They both love it and fight over who's turn it is...too funny. That's definitely not going to last long (and neither is the $1 a week I am paying them...I am a slave driver). How in the heck did I trick them into thinking that I am doing them a favor by letting them do the dishes?? (but for the record, I would much rather do them myself...takes half the time!)

What great little helpers!! Sammy is such a cutie, she looks so big! Carys loves the dishes too, and I love that she loves doing my least favorite chore!

My kids are the same way. They love to get up to the sink and put the dishes in the dishawasher (I just think they love to get wet). I would much rather do it myself because I have to reorganize the dishwasher after they are done anyways, but I have to remind myself that they have to learn it and that may take practice-very hard for me.

So cute! I'm sure my mom would give anything for me to have an attitude like that. Haha :) Hope everything's going well for you guys!!

Not too shabby! I'll have to try that one once my boys are old enough to trust them with anything glass in their hands.
Sorry to hear about the computer. It is sad how addicted we become to these things, eh!?

YAY for FHE. I think it is great that they want to . Just the other day Samantha got a twenty and so I said to her"don't forget to pay your tithing". and this is what she said back"But mom I don't want to break my twenty". What in the world- She's only 7.

HaHa! My kids have to empty the dishwasher every morning. What that means to me is a disorganized mess with everything in the wrong place. But... they know it's a chore they HAVE to do everyday! Try vacumning. It's not quite as messy! (:

Sounds like you have a good set up at your house. I would love to get my dishes does for a $1 a week! I think it's great you are teaching them to work for their money even if you have to go back and do it again.

It is definitely a good habit to learn. It takes a lot of patience to teach a kid the right way to clean! I think that is so awesome tho, good job!

Hey send them to my house next. Do they vaccuum or mop yet?

Right now I have assigned chores to the older two. Ashley is over the familyroom, and has to tidy it whenever I ask and Luke is over unloading the dishwasher which he has down to a science. I love it. Good luck.
