Buzz Lightyear...the saga continues

Why is it that when I am feeling very nice and generous..my kids totally take advantage of me??? Today, I took Nate to San Tan Mall to meet some friends from my old ward for Breakfast at Paradise Bakery (yummy!)...I even let him have cookies for breakfast (I did feed him before but still it was 9 in the morning and he was eating cookies)...Then I decided to run over to the Disney Store to buy him a little Buzz Lighyear (I don't usually buy my kids toys for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON...but his Birthday is in November and Christmas isn't until December and I just didn't want to wait that long PLUS he doesn't have very many toys that are his they are either Ben's or hand me down toys that Ben doesn't play with anymore...so I decided to get him a new toy..again, I was feeling nice!) So, we get to the Disney Store and I find the little Buzz toy and he was happy about it and of course, wanted it right away...but than he made eye contact with this... THE REAL BUZZ LIGHTYEAR, are you kidding me! Nathan had to have it! Its big, it shots lasers, his helmet does that whoosh thing...Nathan fell in LOVE!
It was more than I had wanted to spend and its kind of a nice toy to get for NO REASON what so ever..but it was pretty cool so I was thinking about it...that is where everything became unravelled..
I grabbed the box away from Nathan and HE FREAKED OUT! He was screaming, kicking things, hitting, he grabbed the box away from me and went and hid around the corner...screaming all the way...In my whole parenting career I have NEVER dealt with a bigger temper tantrum..I was shocked..WHAT?? My sweet little Nathan??? Yes, believe it or not...
I tried to rationalize with him and explain that I just wanted to look at the Buzz..but he was past the point of being rational!! I had no choice... I grabbed him around the waist and walked out of the store...he was kicking and screaming the WHOLE way home! I have to say that I was pretty proud of myself for not taking the easy way out and buying him the toy..hopefully he learned his lesson! Oh, the joys of parenting!

Oof. Isn't it stinky when you want to do something nice for them but you can't because they are acting so ungrateful. That's the way Heavenly Father probably feels about me sometimes. Jeez! If I'd just straighten up he could bless me already!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had to drag a screaming child out of a store! Last time it happened, it was because of one of those dang Buzz Lightyear cell phones they put in the checkout aisles at Walmart!
