My early morning awakening!

Last night (or should I say this morning) as I was sound asleep I hear a LOUD Knock, knock, knock. I notice that it's 1 am so I nudge Benson and say "someone is knocking on our door"...my ever believing husband says "no there isn't!" than again knock, knock, knock...I say "Benson you have to go to the door..but don't open it if you don't know who it is!" (I know, who am I to talk I just confronted a man with a machetti). Well I have this adorable "welcome" sign on the front door that blocks our peephole so Benson is trying to look out the window without who ever it is seeing him...Knock, knock, knock...they aren't going away!! Knock, knock, knock "Police" the man yells "open the door" ( I was thinking "did our neighbor call the police AGAIN!") I yell to Benson "don't open it anyone can say they are the police" so Benson hollers back to him "whats the problem?" officer hollers "police open the door"..."whats the problem, officer?" ..."we are patrolling the neighborhood and wanted to tell you your garage was open!" (he sounded really bugged!) ..."oh, okay we'll shut it". I confirmed out of the upstairs window that there was indeed a police car out front before I would let Benson turn off the alarm and open the door...and sure enough our garage was open...so weird because I am usually OCD about checking to make sure its closed! Also, I thought it was strange that the officer was getting so annoyed and insistent that we open the door at 1 in the morning...Oh well, I am glad that nothing was stolen or anything!

we have done this before and it is the scariest feeling. no cops knocked on our door but brandon didn't find it until the next morning. we also didn't lock the inside door to the garage, so anyone could have just walked into our house!
