Reading Frenzy!

Sometimes I get a little obsessive about things...one of those things is reading. I love to read and sometimes I have to put myself on reading timeouts because I obsess about reading. Now is one of those times...So I have no fun things to blog about because I have been reading so much that I haven't done any fun projects are anything with my kids (feeling like a bad mom!) but sometimes I just need a little time to read so I thought I would share my recent reads..believe it or not I have read all of these books over the last week and a half...told you I have been reading a lot!
The Other Boleyn Girl was a really good book. Definitely a little risque in some parts so I would rate it PG-13 (or maybe 18 but not rated R). It is a very sad story but I liked the end obviously Anne gets beheaded at the end but that wasn't surprising to me and she kinda had it coming. I was happy that Mary ended up living happily ever after! Good book and I can't wait to see the movie..anyone want to see it with me? Its a pretty long book but very engrossing so its a pretty quick read. It probably took me only like 3 days.
I had heard so many wonderful things about Secret Life of Bees and had really wanted to read it. I actually really liked it but I didn't love it like some people did. I read this one Thursday to Tuesday..Its actually not a super long book so I am not sure why it took me so long to read (not like 5 days is super long..but that is kind of long for me). This is a sad book but it has a good ending which I like!
Tuesday night I started this book...I had debated on reading it because Kite Runner was WAY to emotionally exhausting for me. I really liked it but at the same time I hated it! But for book club they were reading Thousand Splendid Suns so I decided to give it a try...I actually really liked it. Again it was emotionally exhausting but a really good story and I personally like the ending way more than Kite Runner. Something I really liked about this book is I feel like it forced me to not live in my little naive happy life bubble. The story of these women is so tragic and although they are not real women there is definitely truth to their story. I had to finish this up by Thursday night for book club. There are some pretty sad parts so I definitely don't recommend reading this one in public (like I did at the gym) because you'll be fighting some tears!

So now I am starting to read Atonement. I am so sad that I can't see the movie but I really wanted to read the book so I am excited to read this one...but than I am going to have to take a break from reading so I can be a mom again! Or at least I need to read something happy...all of these books are so sad! Does anyone have any recommendations on books..happy or sad (I will save the sad ones for later)? Don't bother recommending any "self help" books..I won't read them..I don't know why but I just don't like them. I like novels and young adult books are my favorite!

Ok Kyle I am OBSESSED with reading too. I can finish a book in a day if I don't limit myself. Thanks for the posts on the books, I haven't read them so I will definitely be checking them out. I loved Kite Runner but I haven't read A Thousand Splendid Summers yet so I will do that soon. Have you ever heard of the website shelfari? You can make up an account of all the books you have read and check out other peoples favorites. You should definitely check it out. Happy reading!!!

Holy cow! You have been on a reading frenzy! I do that sometimes too. Books? Have you read These is My Words by Nanci Turner. A must in my book. I also love Ava's Man by Rick Bragg. There's a longer list. But I'll stop there. :0)

Have you signed up on goodreads.com yet? I love that site. Of course then I find way too many new books and get sucked into staying up way too late reading. Or procastinating my house work! Last night I actually stayed up reading a book by the lady who wrote "PS I Love You". She's my recent favorite author. I read all of Philippa Gregory's books a couple of years ago and enjoyed the stories. I'll have to read this other one by the Kite Runner author. Thanks for the suggestion!

Kyle I'm reading Atonement right now... I'm actually JUST starting to get into the story (as in wanting to keep reading) and I'm more than 200 pages into it. I heard that it's hard to get into but once it gets going it's really good. So I'm plugging away!

I second the "These is my words" nomination. SUCH a good book! I read a book called Enemy Women - blanking on the author right now, but it was really good too. historical fiction.

I've read everything on your list in this post, and I think we have similar taste in books. I'm glad you liked Thousand Splendid Suns. I'm finally over the trauma of reading those books back to back!

Can't wait to hear what you think of Atonement.
