Fun in the Sun!

On Friday night we decided to have a picnic dinner and eat our Rubios in the backyard! We haven't done this in a while and the kids think it is so fun and it is an easier clean up for me..so win-win! After dinner we busted out the slip-n-slide. I thought it would be too cold but of course the kids don't care and they had a lot of fun. Benson even slid down a couple of times...which the kids thought was hilarious (sorry didn't get a picture)!

The boys desperately needed haircuts and for some reason Ben wanted to get his cut at Nana's (Benson's mom) so we cut their hair at her house. Ben's was a temporary mo-hawk...just for fun! Now that they have their buzz we are all ready for summer!

Then we went SWIMMING! Thanks to the solar heater the temperature was perfect! Sammy and Ben were a little afraid to swim without their noodles at first..but the more they swam the more confident they became and they eventually ditched the noodles and were jumping in and swimming around like pros (ok, maybe semi-pros)! Nate wasn't quite sure at first about the whole swimming thing...of course I dunked him and he HATED it but than we showed him how to jump off the side into the pool and he decided that swimming was something he could get used to!

Saturday night our neighborhood had a movie at the park. My kids love to watch a movie under the stars and the free popcorn and soda makes it even better! Our neighborhood does this a couple times a year and this time we watched "The Never Ending Story"...I used to love this movie when I was little and I was a little excited to see it again. Besides Nate, my kids were probably ready to go about 15 minutes into the movie..Sammy and Ben were so scared. Too bad for them because Benson, Nate and I were totally into it. In the middle of the movie Sammy said "mom, if this movie goes to the stores can you PLEASE not buy it". Once the Emperess was in it and they save Fantasia she was happy and decided that she did like the movie...but I didn't ask her if she wanted me to buy it or not!

That sounds like the perfect weekend. You're a fun mom. And I'm impressed with your neighborhood - then again, I live in the ghetto so I probably wouldn't even WANT to do a movie night with people around here!

I love that movie! We rented it for Emma and Fisher a few months ago and they were totally into it.

I am a little jealous of your neighborhood movie in the park, that is such a great idea! You are so creative doing a picnic in your back yard, I love the idea of no clean up!

A busy but great weekend for you guys. I was thrilled with the turn out for the movie. I think our best one yet. Maybe it's catching on after all?

And I got a kick out of your comment on my blog. Did anyone NOT notice my big blunder. Boy, was my face red! Such an airhead...
