Zoo Trip!

Today was the first day of Fall Break. Sammy let me know last week that she "had big plans for this week" which included going to the zoo. Luckily, I was able to talk a few friends into going also. The weather was fabulous and their was social time for all! It was a great trip!
Looking at the baboons that the kids were calling the "bobo brothers" from Diego!

Nate and Ben LOVE to play with Mason...they had so much fun in the new cave play place.

For some reason my kids love to get a pictures sitting on this turtle in front of the zoo...

For Family night tonight I had this bright idea to make "mini caramel apples" from Family Fun magazine. The kids thought it was fun and they were yummy (of course) but I was disappointed that they didn't turn out as cute as they were in the magazine...oh well! Anyway, if you are interested in making these I just cut up an apple using a melon baller then dipped the apples in caramel and we rolled them in sprinkles (I think part of my problem was my melon baller)! Anyway, it was good because I love caramel apples (especially this time of year) but my kids have such a hard time eating them...this worked out perfectly for that...even if they weren't pretty.

All in all, day one of Fall Break was a success!

You are just so full of fun ideas Kyle! I just bought the stuff to make your pumpkin cookies today (I know, sad I didn't already have those TWO INGREDIENTS ON HAND), and now I'm going to have to do these next!

Keep 'em coming!

I LOVE the zoo! What a fun fall break idea...tell Sammy that!

My kids saw those mini caramel apples too and totally want to make them, except I am NOT going out to buy a melon baller. So, maybe we'll just do wedges. I'm so lame like that!

Wow, it sure sounds like you are quite the chef! I can't wait to try out your cookie recipe.
By the way I wanted to let you know that I've decided to lower my prices for family photo's this year, because of the cruddy economy and all. So for a family photo shoot, editing, disk, and copyright included, I am charging $125 an hour. No pressure I just thought I would let you know.
Anyways, hope you guys are enjoying this fabulous weather!

The apples still turned out cute - even though they look a little messy!

I think I will steal your zoo pics since I didn't take many :).

I saw those mini-caramel apples in Family Fun and I have been so excited to make them...I am disappointed that you said they didn't turn out as well as the magazine:( I hope it was just your melon baller.
